A rare movie review...

A good friend recently recommended that I check out an independent film by the name of “Son of Rambow”. Now, I’m not much of a movie watching fan (especially obscure indy films), but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.

This film encompasses the joy of childhood imagination, the pain of religious suppression, the need for friends or family, and the frustration of secrets being discovered.

Without going into any of the typical superlative filled reviews, I just wanted to say that I enjoyed it very much.

I found that I could really relate to this film.

When life gives you Lemons...

It’s best to try and make some lemonade.

I spent Friday on the west side of the mountains doing some photography and web work in the sweltering heat. We got a lot of good stuff accomplished. On the way home, my car decided that it wanted to follow the heat trend. Yep, it overheated and left me stranded on the side of the road. I called AAA and waited for somebody to come and rescue me. After an hour waiting on the side of the road, the tow truck finally came. The best thing about the truck was the air conditioned cab.

After finally getting the car to a local shop, I got checked in to a local motel. I soon realize that I only get 12 channels on the tube. With the Olympics on I thought I would be able to find something to keep my interest while passing the time. What was on tonight? Men’s gymnastics! Probably the last thing that I would ever want to watch. Great.

It’s gonna be a boring evening…

Morning came and I was waiting for word from the shop regarding my dead car. I turned on the tube and found that all of the channels had cartoons. I guess I’ll turn it off and go outside to see what I can see. There were many flowers in the beds outside of my room. It was time for the lemonade.

I’ve got to thank Chet for everything he did to help me out. He is a long time resident of this small town and knows everyone. He took care of me, and I really appreciate it. I also want to give a shout out to Heather for picking me up at Black Butte and getting me home.

I'll be biking it until the car gets repaired. I should have already been riding, so maybe this is my chance to get into a little better shape.

Random image from the weekend

B and I spent the morning at OMSI, then met up with my parents and toured the Evergreen Air Museum. Man, that Spruce Goose is HUGE!

Here is B touching the tip of a SR-71 Blackbird:

I tried something new today...

A friend of a friend highly recommended that the fishing for smallies was hot right now, so I decided to check it out.

Here is what we encountered. It was nothing like we expected. A big river that was low and showing it's really cool rock sculptures...

We didn't have much time (or luck) but we fished it hard, then not so hard...

We brought a few of these guys to hand, as well as a couple of troot...

I was home by 6.
